WHAT IS FOAM LIFTING?
Foam lifting, also called polyurethane foam injection or foam jacking, works by injecting a two-part structural polyurethane foam beneath a sunken concrete slab. The foam expands rapidly, filling voids and exerting upward force to lift and re-level the concrete. Once cured, the foam is rigid, waterproof, and provides excellent long-term support.
Common question: Is foam strong enough to actually lift concrete? The answer is an unqualified yes. Polyurethane foam is so strong that it’s used to lift and stabilize large industrial structures, not just residential slabs.
ADVANTAGES OF FOAM LIFTING
- Smaller Access Holes — less disruption, cleaner results
- Lightweight Material — reduces the risk of further soil compression over time
- Waterproof — cured foam does not absorb or transmit water
- Fast Curing — concrete is ready for use much faster than mudjacking
- Stable and Inert — doesn't shrink, settle, or wash away
- Adjustable — controllable expansion allows precise leveling
- Non-Invasive — minimal drilling, no heavy equipment, same-day completion in most cases
FOAM LIFTING VS. MUDJACKING
Foam Lifting
- Hole Size: Small
- Material Weight: Very light
- Cure Time: Minutes
- Waterproofing: Yes
- Cost: Typically higher
- Best For: Precision lifting, smaller slabs, moisture-prone areas
Mudjacking
- Hole Size: Larger (2")
- Material Weight: Heavier grout
- Cure Time: Longer
- Waterproofing: Limited
- Cost: Typically lower
- Best For: Larger slabs, high-volume void filling
APPLICATIONS
- Sunken driveways, patios, steps, and walkways
- Garage pad settlement
- Pool deck leveling
- Industrial floor settlement and void filling
- Pre-construction soil stabilization
OUR PROCESS
- Assessment: We inspect the sunken area and confirm foam injection is the right method.
- Small Hole Drilling: Precisely placed small-diameter holes are drilled through the slab.
- Foam Injection: Two-part polyurethane is injected beneath the slab. It expands rapidly, filling voids and lifting the concrete.
- Leveling & Monitoring: Technicians monitor the lift in real time, stopping at the correct grade.
- Hole Filling & Clean-Up: Access holes are sealed. The slab is ready for use within minutes to hours.
